SUBJECT:   CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE AN AGREEMENT FOR TAX COLLECTION SERVICES WITH LINEBARGER GOGGAN BLAIR & SAMPSON, LLP AFTER HAVING PROVIDED ADEQUATE NOTICE AS REQUIRED BY SECTION 2254.1036 OF THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY


The City has utilized the services of Linebarger since 2017 for the collection of taxes that are owed to the City. The term of that agreement has recently ended. This agreement term will be from Council approval (April 16, 2024), until April 16, 2029, with options for either party to opt out before then with 60 days notice. 

 

Compensation for Linebarger is 20% of the amount collected on taxes after the year 2003, and 15% on taxes owed prior to 2002.


RECOMMENDATION


Staff recommends approval of the agreement.
